Course Name
: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND BIOSTATISTICS MCN 5203
Module Title :  Micro Award Multivariate Analysis and Research Exploration (MARVEL)
Module Code : MCN 5151
Credit Hours : 1
Learning Mode
:  online
Language
:  English
Entry Requirement :
Registration Date :
Module Synopsis :

This course provides an intensive exploration of advanced research frameworks and the statistical architectures required to analyze complex health data. Students will master the transition from selecting a robust Research Design (Experimental, Cohort, or Mixed Methods) and Sampling Strategy (Stratified, Snowball, etc.) to executing sophisticated multivariate analyses.

A significant portion of the course is dedicated to GLM (General Linear Model) extensions, specifically looking at how health outcomes change over time or across intervention groups using Repeated Measures and Mixed ANOVA, as well as predicting outcomes using Multiple Linear Regression

Module Learning Outcomes :
MLO 1 : Reorganize data using appropriate multivariate statistical methods for health sciences research
MLO 2: Using appropriate research methods in the exploration  of health sciences research

Module Synopsis : Data in research can be classified into nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio, and the choice of statistical test depends on these measurement levels and whether the data meet normality assumptions. Hypothesis testing involves comparing the null and alternative hypotheses using methods such as t-tests, ANOVA, Chi-Square, or nonparametric tests, depending on the type of data and distribution. To explore relationships, correlation measures the strength and direction between variables, while regression models and predicts outcomes based on one or more predictors.
Module Learning Outcomes :
MLO 1 Identify appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical tests for health science research
MLO 2 Analyse scientific data in health science research.
